A personal loan is a good choice if you need to borrow money for 1 to 5 years or even longer and depending on the lender, the maximum is around $20,000. Some lenders or banks don't set the limit on how much you can borrow with your personal loans. The reason for this loan can vary. It could be that you need extra holiday or you need to refinance and consolidate all your debts from credit cards.

Generally you don't need any type of security to back up your personal loan. Probably in most cases you need to prove that you have good income job and good credit rating.

When looking for a personal loan you should look for a lender that offers the following:

• Choice of term
• No ongoing service fees
• No early repayment fees

As with any type of loans you should be very careful and follow the guidelines about how to best repay your loan in shortest time possible. Remember that loan money is not your money and interest is a high price to pay over the longer time.

It is probably not recommended to lend money, unless really you are in serious need. Things like holidays or the new car can wait. It is best to buy with your own money. If you use cash for any transactions than you truly know the value of money. Plastic or loans should be the last choice.
